My name is Daniel. I was an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea, and I am now a writer who has published three books including South Korea: Our Story by Daniel Nardini.
Even with all of the evidence, eyewitness reports, doc-umentation and photos of all the terrible atrocities and crimes against humanity committed by the Communists that killed over 100 million people, why have Communism and socialism endured to seem attractive to so many people on the Korean peninsula and around the world? Because the information about the terrible things done under Communism and the political reality had been hidden and kept secret for too long. There are still many secrets that Communism is still keeping from the world of the terrible things they have done and are still doing (as in the case of China, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and Cuba). One sad truth about Communism and the political left that has been sadly ignored is their attempt to gain power. In this case, I am referring to the Park Geun-hye--Choi Soon-sil scandal. Of Choi trying to obtain bribes and preferential treatment from a wide variety of sectors there seems to be little doubt. Of her connection to Park I so far do not see it. At present, there is only the personal computer (PC) that was purported to be Choi's that connects her to Park. Problem is this is not enough or solid evidence. Was Park involved in the scandal? We simply do not know, and I seriously doubt that we will really know even if the South Korean Constitutional Court lets the impeachment against Park stand. Like the evils of Communism, we will learn for sure if Park is guilty or innocent long after the fact she was impeached. The danger I see here is that the political left forces do not care about whether Park is innocent or guilty---they just want to use (and maybe even create?) the situation to take power in South Korea. The political left has done this in many other countries, and in doing so have destroyed or greatly undermined the institutions and sectors of government to achieve power. If you can put someone away even though they are innocent, and damage or destroy sectors of the government and those institutions that protect the ordinary person, then how will any of us be any safer than the people who were murdered by the Communists in the countries they ruled?!
